 How to order Cycads - Procedure and Payment Information.

Our Minimum order value for Export is Euro 1.000.00 this is for the plant content of shipment only and does not include documentation or shipping.

To find the cycad plants you wish to purchase please refer to the Plants section of the website, where you can request a quote online by using the "Quote Request" facility. Alternatively, you may contact us by phone, fax or email.

(Make rare Cycads available to collectors through cultivation and you will start relieving the pressure on wild populations.)

We have one of the worlds largest range of Rare and Exotic Cycad Plantslegally available to commercial buyers and collectors from around the world. Our Nursery is situated in Katherine, Northern Territory, Australia which is 320 kilometres south of Darwin.

We have approximately 60,000 Cycad Plants growing in our nursery ranging in size from Seedlings to Landscape Feature plant size. We have a large Gardens of 2.6 acres or 6.4 ha planted out with Mother Plants/Seed Orchard of Cycads, Adansonia, Aloes, Agave, Euphorbia, Pachypodiums, (Caudiciform Pachycaul and Succulent Plants) and many other rare and endangered species of plants in a Botanical Gardens Setting.

Commercial Customers enquiries, please contact us by email link at bottom of the page. All cycads are grown and established in Soil-less media, we export them in this media, very little stress is experienced by the plant, re-establishment time is very quick when planted into landscape.

Our Cycads are grown without need for insecticide application, these cycads offered are proven to be insect resistant (Bullet Proof) landscape plants.

Our Nursery has all the relevant CITES Commercial Export qualifications and permits to export around the world . Our key overseas export markets are at the moment are Southern Europe, Asia and the Middle East and the USA. Our prices are generally extremely competitive across the board, when compared with world prices even whenincluding the price of the shipping costs to your address and all relevant Certifications, CITES, Phytosanitary etc.

For Appendix I Cycad species, CITES recognizes our "Artificially Propagated Material" and does not require the importer to obtain a CITES Export Permit Valid for Multiple Commercial Consignments. Import Permit.We have

Hygiene/Quality Control.

Prior to inspection Bare rooted plants are carefully washed and and treated with appropriate Chemicals if required. Potted plants are treated asOrdering 2 required by importing country.We are at the moment in the process of upgrading our Export Packing Facility to the highest standards set by AQIS, to a fully sealed, controlled environment to minimise the risk of the possibility of contamination during the packing process. Seeds are all float tested and checked for viability and embryo development to ensure the best possible germination rate. Viability of Wild collected seeds is usually between 85% to 95%, this can vary to lower percentages in some cases. Cycas seed does not develop unless pollination fertilisation has taken place, unlike Encephalartos and most other Cycad seeds where the seeds will not develop to full size unless fertile.

Phytosanitary Certificate.

Before shipping, the plants are inspected by an officerof the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) . Our Nursery is a Registered Quarantine Export Facility. Once AQIS has inspected the plants and they are declared free of disease and insectsa Phytosanitary Certificate will be issued.

Customs and Legislation

Phytosanitary Certificate and where necessary a CITES Certificatewill be included with each shipment. Please check with your Authorities if you require any extra documentation or permits, ie. Import Permit, Freight Clearance,Import Duties etc.

Plants are easily accessible to Customs and Health Officials on arrival in country of destination.

Whole Plants that are shipped in pots with soilless media will be pre-treated (as required by AQIS and Importing Country), leaves wrapped and pots sealed in shrink wrap, then packed in cartons for shipping. Larger whole container shipments will be treated as the above but may not be packed in cartons to save on costs and space in shipping container, this option is a choice left to the client. There may be the necessity for plants thatare to tall for Shipping Height Limits set by Shipping Agentcontainer to be trimmed to required height to fit Airfreight or Seafreight containers.

All plants that arerequired to be bare rooted arepreparedwashed and treated the dayof Inspection, packed and sent within 24 hours of Phytosanitary Inspection as Required by Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS.)

All plants are carefully packed to ensure minimal leaf and root damage so they reach their destination in the best possible condition.


Payment should be prepaid by Telegraphic Transfer after receiving Pro-Forma Invoice from us. We will ship the goods after payment within 10 working days. This depends on the size of your order, if the order is small the dispatch time will decrease to 7 working days. With overseas orders an Inspection by Quarantine officer must be booked, the officers availability of appointments can have an effect on time of dispatch of your shipment, this is not a common problem. This delay may also apply with booking shipments with Shipping Agents as Carriers departure from Australia may vary from time to time.

The following terms and conditions of sale apply to the sale of goods or services (“goods”) by MRP Horticultural Consultancy (“Supplier”) to another party (“Customer”). These terms and conditions of sale replace any previous terms and conditions of


  1. Unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Supplier, any terms and conditions of the Customer’s order inconsistent with these terms and conditions are not applicable. Any variations to these terms and conditions not expressly agreed to in writing by the Supplier are not applicable.
  1. A quotation shall not constitute an offer to sell goods to the Customer. No contract for the supply of goods shall exist between the Supplier and the Customer until the Supplier has accepted a Customer’s order for goods.
  2. The Supplier may vary these terms and conditions by notice in writing to the Customer. The Customer agrees that the purchase of any goods after the date of a notice of variation will be deemed to be an acceptance of such varied terms and conditions.
  3. Should there be any variation to any of the information supplied by the Customer to the Supplier or in the structure or nature of the Customer’s business the Customer must immediately notify the Supplier in writing.
  4. These terms and conditions and all obligations hereunder shall be binding on the Customer’s personal representatives successors and permitted assigns and shall be for the benefit of the Suppliers successors and assigns.



  1. The Supplier will be entitled to set off against any money owing to the Customer amounts owed to the Supplier by the Customer on any account whatsoever.

  2. Payment terms are 50% payment with placed and confirmed order. Remainder (50%) payment due on presentation of shipping of transport loading documentation.

  3. Personal cheques are not accepted. Payment is by direct deposit to nominated bank account of supplier or by letter of credit facility.


  1. Goods will be delivered or deemed to be delivered when they are delivered when they are signed over to the customers nominated carrier. If no carrier is nominated then the delivery will be deemed to occur at the time when the goods are signed over to a reputable carrier or agent.

  2. The Customer authorises the Supplier to deliver the goods by their nominated carrier to the place nominated by the Customer and to leave the goods at such place whether or not any person is present to accept delivery. The Supplier shall not be liable on any basis whatsoever for loss suffered by the Customer after shipment has been dispatched.

  3. The Supplier shall not be obliged to obtain a signed receipt from any person at the nominated place for delivery but if a signed receipt is obtained from someone believed by the Supplier to be authorised by the Customer to sign or otherwise take delivery, then such signed receipt shall be conclusive evidence of the Customer’s acceptance of the goods delivered and that the goods were in good condition and acceptable to the Customer.

  4. Any times quoted for delivery are estimates only and the Supplier shall not be liable to the Customer for any failure to deliver or for delay in delivery of goods occasioned by strike, lockout or other industrial dispute, shortage of stock, shortage of labour, lack of skilled labour, delays in transit, fire, flood, hostility, civil commotion or any other cause whatsoever whether or not beyond the control of the Supplier.

  5. The Customer shall not be relieved of any obligation pay for goods before dispatch.All freight charges will be shown as a separate charge on the invoice. The customer shall pay freight charges and documentation fees, prior to dispatch or container loading.

  6. Minimum order for Export is Euro 1,000.00 or equivalent in us$ of Plant content of invoice only not including Documentation, Packaging, Shipping or other on costs.
